EPA Lead Paint Safety Program

ALERT
Members of the IHPA and others who are involved in the Hurricane Protection Industry as well as those who do remodeling (interior or exterior) are advised to become familiar with the EPA Lead Paint Safety Program scheduled to become effective on April 22, 2010.
Under the new regulations, service providers will be required to be certified and comply with certain regulations to remove and/or do work which disturbs the surface of any materials containing lead with regard to 6 sq. ft. on interior surfaces or 20 sq. ft. on exterior surfaces. Penalties for non-compliance can include deactivation or termination of services and fines up to $32,000.00.
